Gwladys Gambie

Artist Statement

Graduated to Campus Caraibéen des Arts of Martinique in 2014, she has shown her artwork in collective shows in Martinique,  a solo show Pwézi kô, Poesia del cuerpo at the Centro provinvial de artes plasticas de Santiago de Cuba (2017) and she did a residency « Création en cours » in Guadeloupe with the Ateliers Médicis. In August 2018, she participated at Caribbean Linked V residency in Aruba.

The main questionning of Gwladys Gambie is the condition of black woman with the drawing and sculpture practice. She is inspired by the caribbean landscape which belong to her imaginary and add oniric dimension in her graphic writting. Creole, strong picture language, becomes a main element to create a specific iconography to her work about black female body.
