Artist’s Statement
A symbol can convey several messages at once. Beneath its key physical
information there are the underlying ideas, feelings and familiar
histories present in what a symbol represents. When certain unrelated
symbols interact, their meanings are integrated, and are transformed by
the identity of the group. I am interested in how these networks are
constructed, how meaning becomes circuitous, layered and hidden. By
mapping personal icons and symbols I am attempting to unravel this absurd
knot of information, conquering it with mockery and suspicion.
