Elisa Harkins, aka Pooper, was born in Miami, Oklahoma in 1978. She has been working and living in Chicago, Il since 1998. Her artistic practice stems from the ancient art of myth-making and ritual. Using the world around her and her own experience to create myths, she sometimes places these spiritual creatures and characters in the public eye of the streets as well as on the gallery walls. Referencing the tradition of healing, her musical performances aim to fill the viewer with a lighter spectrum of emotions. She uses digital forms (animation, electronic music) as well as analog forms (singing, drumming, wood cut outs) to create her own version of native ritual in the present day.
